Man killed, 2 others wounded in Quezon City holdup
MANILA, Philippines—One man was fatally shot, another was critically wounded and a third one survived a gunshot wound to give police an account of an attempted robbery in Quezon City Friday night.
Killed, according to the police, was the intended victim, Jeffrey Regidor. Critically wounded was the alleged robber, identified only as Ronald, and the other casualty was Marcial Tagupa, who heard Regidor’s cry for help and ran to his aid.
Case investigator PO2 Gilmer Marinas said the attempted robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m. in front of Highlights Sports Wear on Luzon Avenue in Barangay Pasong Tamo.
Tagupa, who is confined at the East Avenue Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the left armpit, said he was at a nearby vulcanizing shop when he saw Regidor, 29, of Nawasa Road in Veterans Village in Barangay Pasong Tamo, grappling with Ronald, who was armed with a gun.
According to Marinas, Tagupa heard Regidor cry out: “Help me! He’s a robber.” Tagupa ran to help Regidor but got hit by a bullet.
It was not immediately clear exactly how many times the gun went off, but both Regidor and the alleged assailant fell to the ground, Regidor dying instantly from a bullet that entered the lower lip and exited in the back of the head, Marinas said.
