UC paddlers to compete in Russia in July

THE VAUNTED University of Cebu (UC) table tennis team will send representatives to the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia slated July 4 .

Jerny Kaye Pepito and Val Stephen Jaca, UC’s top table tennis players, will represent the school in the prestigious international meet. They will be with other Filipino athletes who will compete in the other sporting events, according to UC table tennis coach Jessica Honoridez.

Both Pepito and Jaca are 18 years old and were chosen to compete after their sterling performances in last year’s 4th Philippine National Open Table Tennis Tournament at the University of the Philippines (UP) campus in Diliman and the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games.

They were chosen by the Federation of School Sports Associations of the Philippines (FESSAP) to compete in the 27th edition of the World University games./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
