FATAL STABBING IN MANDAUE BAR

A 55-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed dead by the live-in-partner of an entertainer of a bar in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City.

Renato Conicode, a resident of barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City, succumbed to a stab wound in the chest.

The fatal stabbing happened inside the Aljons KTV bar around 2 a.m. yesterday.

The suspect, Hendry Benabente, fled after the attack but police eventually cornered him in a follow-up around 2 p.m. yesterday in barangay Tipolo.

Police said a seven-inch knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was recovered from the suspect.

Police said Conicode was having a few drinks when the suspect’s live-in partner identified as Annabelle Basubas joined him in his table.

The two were talking when Benabente arrived.

Benabente confronted Conicode that resulted to a heated argument.

At the height of the argument, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, said PO2 Candido Umambak, investigator of Centro police station.

The victim was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital but was declared dead by the attending doctor.

MANDAUE STORE BURGLED

AT LEAST P100,000 cash and power tools were stolen from a hardware store which was burgled by unidentified thieves in barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City.

Marlon Layagui, the security guard on duty when DJ and Sons’ Products Services Inc. was ransacked yesterday dawn, will be included in the investigation for failing to immediately report the burglary.

Taken from the stole were power tools worth P72,723 and P7,000 cash.

It was only after seven hours that the burglary was reported to the police, said PO1 Crestito Raboy, investigator of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO).

Layagui of Rosario Pilipinas Protective and Investigative Agency told police that he heard a noise inside the store around 1 a.m.

The security guard said that when he checked, he saw two men about to escape passing through a sliding window.

He said he shouted at the two men but the intruders ignored him.

Layagui told police that he didn’t realize that the incident to be reported to the police right away.

The security guard reported the theft to the security inspector and store manager around 8 a.m..

Raboy on the other hand said that if such incidents arises it should be reported immediately to the police.

The security guard will be part of the investigation said Raboy.

The tools were taken from the display rack while cash were taken from the drawer.
