TANGUB CITY’S Francis Dominic Lanzado and La Carlota’s Toni Rose Raymundo each brought home two titles in the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championships last Wednesday in Bais City.
Lanzado clinched the Boys 16 and 18-and-Under titles while Raymundo achieved the same feat in the distaff side.
In the 16-and-Under, Lanzado dismissed Bacolod’s Jose Fernando Arguelles, 6-0, 7-5, to once again bring home the title. In the 18-and-Under, Lanzado clinched the title with a seemingly walk in the park against Siquijor’s Flame Sotto, whom he blanked in two straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Raymundo survived Cebu’s Edhel Krizia Parangan, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3, for the Girls 16-and-Under title while she frustrated Negros Oriental’s Sunzel Faith Callao, 6-3, 6-2, for the 18-and-Under title.
Also dominating their respective categories in the boys division were Karl Baran also of La Carlota and Siquijor’s Heart Sotto.
Baran bagged the 14-and-Under title with a 6-3, 6-1 dismissal of Siquijor’s Ryan Dave Jumawan while Sotto annihilated Bais City’s Laurenz Anthony Celis, 6-0, 6-2, for the 12-and-Under title.
In the girls division, Angela Cabaral was the lone Bais City netter who was able to defend home turf.
Cabaral took the 14-and-Under title with a 6-3, 6-4 outsmarting of Cagayan de Oro’s Gennifer Lysandra Pagente.
Pagente did not go home without a title as she ruled the 12-and-Under with a 6-0, 6-0 routing of Siquijor’s Ellaine Rose Bahonsua.
The 10-and-Under Unisex was topped by Tanjay City’s Joseludovic Reyes, who beat La Carlota’s Joshua Raymundo, 5-3, 2-4, 4-1./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
