Back-to-back setbacks drop Pasargad to 3rd

PASARGAD (PSG) FC dropped to third place in the U-17 category of the UFL Youth League after losing in its last two elimination matches against Green Archers United (GAU), 1-3, and Kaya FC, 1-2.

Despite that, PSG FC, mostly manned by booters from Cebu, still advanced to the semifinals and will likely face Agila FC.

PSG FC finished the elimination round with 13 points equivalent to four wins, one draw and two losses.

The back to back matches may have affected the team’s performance. The team faced GAU last Tuesday and Kaya FC last Wednesday.

All of the team’s matches were supposed to be scheduled on weekends but PSG FC team manager Richard Montayre had to ask organizers for a reschedule so the boys can go home earlier and attend their classes.

The team will just go back to Manila for the semifinals scheduled on June 23 at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

Against GAU FC at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in Alabang, PSG FC’s lone goal was scored by Lawrence “Soysoy” Colina who converted a penalty.

Against, Kaya FC at the University of Makati football field, Younousse Yaogo scored the goal of PSG FC on a long shot.

Head coach Eleazar Toledo said the team had five attempts which it failed to convert to goals.

In the first half, Colina failed to score when his attempt coming from a direct free kick outside the box hit the post.

Yaogo also had two failed attempts with his headers hitting the crossbar and the other missing the mark. Both attempts came from a cross. Also missing in their attempts were Iani Miranda and Charles Bayot.

With no loss so far, Kaya FC has taken over the top spot with one more match remaining this Sunday against the Dolphins.
