Bus’ tire catches fire, passengers panic

PASSENGERS panicked after the tire of the bus they were riding caught fire while the vehicle was traveling along a highway in barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, southern Cebu yesterday morning.

At least 30 passengers were on board the Cebu City-bound Ceres Bus, which came from a southern town in Cebu.

Police said some passengers alerted the driver that one of the tires in the right side of the bus was on fire.

When the bus driver stopped the bus, the passengers scrambled to get out, fire investigator SFO1 Marcelino Aguilar said.

Some residents in the area helped put out the fire.
