A policeman arrested a man who allegedly assaulted him in barangay Capitol, Cebu City yesterday morning.
PO3 Roderick Balili, an operative of the intelligence branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), accused Noel Labiaga of hitting him in the forehead.
Labiaga is reportedly a former bodyguard of suspended Cebu governor Gwen Garcia, police said.
Balili said the incident happened while he was driving a Kia van carrying Senior Insp. Leo Logronio who was supposed to attend a conference at the headquarters of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas in Osmeña Boulevard.
Logroño is the deputy chief of the CPPO’s intelligence branch.
While he was driving, Balili said Labiaga drove beside him as if asking him to pull over.
Labiaga said he lowered the window glass to check but Labiaga allegedly hit him in the forehead.
Balili pulled over and apprehended the man.
Labiaga refused to comment on the arrest.
Labiaga was detained at the Consolacion police station while waiting for charges to be filed against him./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
