Suson wins 3rd boys 12-U crown at Cebuana tennis

CEBU’S Marc Nicole Suson clinched his third boys 12-and-Under title in the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championships, this time in the Ormoc City leg held over the weekend.

Suson blanked Baybay City’s Joshua Ramon Torres in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to grab the title.

Cesar Kristofer Salimbangon added to Cebu’s pride by collecting the 10-and-Under Unisex title with a 4-1, 4-2 dismissal of Ozamiz City’s Ashton Benne Villanueva.

Tangub City’s Francis Dominic Lanzado also finished with two titles—the 16 and 18-and-Under.

In the 16-and-Under, Lanzado routed Tacloban City’s Harvey Klein Gilbuena, 6-1, 6-1, while in the 18-and-Under, he thrashed Misamis Oriental’s Emmanuel Vacalares II, 6-4, 6-1.

Gilbuena, on the other hand, kept his bid alive in the tournament by bringing home the 14-and-Under title, which he won over North Cotabato’s Abson John Alejandre, 6-2, 6-1.

In the girls division, also clinching two titles was Eastern Samar’s Ma. Delrose Duran. Duran outsmarted Leyte’s Joy Camille Sanico, 6-2, 6-2, for the 14-and-Under title.

In the 16-and-Under, Duran took the title after Cebu’s Kristin Renee Salimbangon retired.

Earlier, Sanico clinched the 18-and-Under title at the expense of fellow Leyteno Theresa Iana Tan, 6-1, 6-2.

The 12-and-Under title was bagged by Cagayan de Oro’s Gennifer Lysandra Pagente, who inflicted a 6-1, 6-4 beating of Baybay City’s Anica Giorgia.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
