A two-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a stray bullet on the forehead last Sunday in Phase II, Relocation Site, barangay Baring, Carmen town, in northern Cebu.
Terence June M. Salabao was playing outside the family’s house when a neighbor, Pedro Durano, 32, shot Jemar Sevillano, whom he suspected to be a robber.
Police said Durano chased Sevillano as he passed by Durano’s house.
During the chase, Durano pulled out a gun and fired at Sevillano, but Durano missed and hit Salabao instead.
The boy was rushed to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by a doctor.
Police recovered two empty .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.
Durano was detained at the Carmen police station pending the filing of charges./Correspondent Michelle Padayhag with CNU intern Allet Mary Teves
