Buaya shooting

An unidentified gunman shot dead two jeepney dispatchers in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.

Ven Casio, 23, and Jomar Amenita, 23, were standing at the side of the street in sitio Saac at past 6 p.m. when the assailant approached and shot them several times.

The assailant then casually walked away from the crime scene towards barangay Ibo.

At least 10 empty .45 caliber shells were also recovered from the area.

Police were looking into drugs and if the victims had crossed any drivers during their dispatching work as a motive in the killing. /Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza

Gun ban violator

A security guard was arrested for bringing his service firearm in a videoke house in the new Mandaue public market, which is a violation of the election gun ban.

Franklin Silaya, 29, was still in uniform when police arrested him at 10:30 p.m.

His service firearm, a .38 caliber revolver was confiscated from him.

Silaya, who is an RMA Security Agency guard, was detained at the Subangdaku Police Station.

With the gun ban, security guards are prohibited from bringing their issued service firearm outside his area of responsibility.

Burglary suspect

A suspect in the P100,000 Asialink Finance Corp. burglary was arrested during a drug raid yesterday in barangay Zapatera, Cebu City.

Virgilio Cañacao was also caught with illegal drugs during the raid.

Police, however, said that during interrogation, Cañacao admitted as being one of the thieves in the May 27 heist. He also named two other minors as his cohorts in the crime.

Thieves broke into the Asialink Finance Corp. office last May 27 and fled with three laptops, six cell phones and the P100,000 cash kept in the firm’s vault.

Cybersex crime

The Provincial Board has requested Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy, Cebu Provincial Police Director Patrocinio Comendador, Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales, and National Bureau of Investigation Chief Antonio Pagatpat to appear at the PB to shed light on the reported cybersex crimes in Cordova town.

The resolution for the request was approved yesterday.
