1 killed, 3 hurt as cargo truck slams into house in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon—One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when a wayward ten-wheel truck rammed a residential house in Tagkawayan, Quezon on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Chief Inspector Edcille Canals, Quezon police media relations officer, said the Bicol-bound truck was negotiating a sharp downhill curve on the Quirino Highway in Barangay San Vicente when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a house on the side of the road.

Canals said the truck driver, identified as Joffrey Jacob, was pinned down inside the vehicle and died on the spot.

His helper, Richard Perez, and occupants of the house, Editha Garcia and James David Garcia, suffered injuries and were taken to the Maria Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Tagkawayan.
