THE BORACAY Rum Waves kept their season alive as they staved off elimination with a 69-65 win over the Blackwater Sports Elite in Game Two of the best-of-three semifinal series in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the Blue Eagle gym inside the Ateneo campus.

Maclean Sabellina finished what Ken Acibar started as the two submitted crucial contributions that led to the series-tying win. Acibar had the bulk of his 14 points in the first canto while Sabellina finished off the Elite by scoring 10 of his 14 markers in crunch time, including several key baskets that held the Elite at bay.

The Elite came as close as two with seconds remaining but mid-season acquisition Jonathan Fernandez sealed the win with two freethrows.

He finished with nine points while other key contributors included Raymund Ilagan, who had 10 rebounds, and Marcy Arellano, who dished out seven assists.

The Elite suffered greatly from the limited production of point guard Allan Mangahas, who managed just five points under the immense defensive pressure mounted by Lucas Tagarda. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
