Yves, Cababan top Junie Martinez chess

CHRISTIAN Fiel Yves and Charah Eve Cababan claimed the titles in the Mayor Junie Martinez Fiesta Chess Cup Open last May 27 in Bogo City, northern Cebu.

Yves topped the open category while Cababan ruled the 16-below division. Both finished their campaigns with 6.5 points. With the victory, Yves won P4,000 while Cababan went home with P500.

Around 50 wood pushers from Cebu City and Bogo City joined the tournament organized by the Bogo Sports Commission as part of the city’s fiesta celebrations. The tournament was handled by FIDE Arbiter Coach Felix Poloyapoy of the University of San Carlos (USC). /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
