Security was tightened at the Cebu Capitol compound following recent cases of motorcycle thefts.
Three motorcycles have been stolen from the compound in different instances before the May 13 elections, said Valentino Cruz Jr., chief of the Civil Security Service Division.
As a security measure, security guards assigned in the main gate will issue a motorcycle pass to the driver upon entering the compound, said Cruz.
The driver must present the gate pass on his way out to prove that he is the owner of the motorcycle, said Cruz.
A motorist will not be allowed to leave without the pass.
Owners were also advised to park their motorcycles in designated areas for easy tracking.
Some of the stolen motorcycles were not parked properly, Cruz said.
“The guards cannot look after all those motorcycles,” he said.
Most of the stolen motorcycles were Honda XRM motorcycles.
“Honda XRM motorcycles are easy to dispose of since the engines can be used for pumpboats,” he added.
