Diver nabbed
A 24-year-old diver was caught spearfishing off the seawaters of Maribago last Saturday.
Philip Bryan Genovia of sitio Buyong was detained at the Lapu-Lapu police station for violating a city ordinance prohibiting spearfishing in the area near the Kontiki Drop in barangay Maribago.
“As a diver he knew it was a violation to use a spear gun as it would harm the fish and the corals,” said Andy Berame of the head of Lapu-Lapu City’s Coastal Law Enforcement Task Force.
