Two security guards were arrested in a dragnet operation in Parañaque City on Saturday afternoon two hours after they held up and shot a 64-year-old retired policeman.
The city’s police chief Senior Supt. Andrei Felix said that Rodolfo Dimacali, who used to hold the rank of senior police officer 1, was wounded after his car was fired upon by four robbers riding in tandem on two motorcycles around 1 p.m. on A. Santos Avenue in Barangay San Dionisio.
Felix said the robbery happened in broad daylight while the retired policeman was in his car with his live-in partner, house helper and driver.
They were on their way to Dimacali’s stall at the Parañaque public market when the robbers tried to stop them on the road.
When the policeman’s vehicle did not stop, the robbers fired, hitting Dimacali twice in the chest, Felix said.
He added that the robbers finally managed to stop the victim’s car on Sucat Road, leaving Dimacali no choice but to hand over a bag which contained a cell phone and cash amounting to P150,000.
As soon as the police were alerted, operatives set up checkpoints to stop the four fleeing robbers, Felix said.
Relying on the description given by a witness, the police were able to stop two tandem-riding men who were believed to be part of the group which robbed Dimacali.
One of the suspects was described as dressed in a Philippine National Police athletic shirt.
The two were later identified as Dionisio Dangat, 53, and Jefferson de Ocampo, 36, both security guards of New Elijas Armor Security Agency in Manila.
Felix said a witness had positively tagged the two as among the four motorcycle-riding men who shot and robbed the retired policeman.
