Old man shoots self

AN ailing 72-year-old man was found dead at home with a gunshot wound in the head  in barangay Tinaan, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Samuel Macapobre Rivera was already dead when he was found by his daughter-in-law around 5 p.m. Friday.

Police said the woman heard a gunshot but didn’t bother to find out what happened.

When she went to the man’s room to bring him food, she found him  lying bloodied on top of a bed.

Rivera had been suffering from arthritis making it hard for him to move around, said PO3 Remberto Empeynado, investigator of the Naga police.

A 9mm caliber pistol was found near the man’s body.

Man stabbed by neighbor

HE greeted his neighbor  “good morning” when they chanced upon each other on the road in barangay Tejero, Cebu City yesterday.

Instead of being greeted in return, Ramilito Pahamotang, 42, was attacked with a knife.

He was stabbed twice in the body but survived.

The victim was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police went to the house of the suspect,  Rosaleo Pino Consad, 56, but  he  was no longer around.

A knife believed  to be used in the stabbing was found near the man’s house.

The night before the attack,  Consad challenged the victim to a fistfight but the reason for the conflict was not clear, said SPO4 Rey Cuyos, homicide investigator of the Cebu City police. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

Drug suspect falls

A 53-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Lorega, Cebu City on  Friday night.

Danilo Abaza Himulatan allegedly sold a pack of shabu to a poseur-buyer when he was arrested by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB).

Police seized 11 plastic packs believed to contain shabu and  P400 cash used as buy-bust money./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

Father mauled by son to death

A MAN died after he was mauled allegedly by his son in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.

Samuel Paez , 63, was already dead when he was brought to the Eversly Hospital.

The victim’s daughter, Marychris Paez, 21, told police that her father and his 43-year-brother Manuelito argued last Friday night.

The argument escalated when Manuelito mauled Samuel who collapsed from the beating he received, police said.
