Talisay Razkals wrest Cebu Inter-Club Boys U13 crown
THE Talisay Razkals clinched the Boys U13 title of the Cebu Amateur Football Club’s (CAFC) 13th Cebu Inter-Club Football Cup with a slim 4-3 win over the Phoenix FC yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Phoenix FC scored first in the 6th minute when Angelo Colina found the back of the net. But Christian Agot scored back-to-back goals in a span of 10 minutes to give Talisay Razkals the lead at 2-1.
Just before halftime, the Razkals stretched their lead to two with Jascha Tabar’s goal. Kenneth Miaga made it four with a goal for Talisay. Phoenix FC tried to catch up but only managed to add two goals in the 58th and 59th minutes.
In today’s semifinal round of the Men’s Open over at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), two-time defending champion Hiroshi FC and Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) face each other for one of the finals ticket.
Hiroshi FC confirmed its status as the top 1 team in group B after benefiting from a forfeiture against Mactan Camellanz.
With this, the two-time defending champions ended the elimination stage with 13 points following four wins and one draw.
CQCU, on the other hand, finished the second best team in Group A.
After lording it over at the top of the leaderboard since the start of the eliminations, the team dropped one of its five elimination matches and accumulated a total of 12 points.
The other semifinals pairing pits San Roque Rehab (SRR) and University of Cebu (UC)/Nigeria.
SRR dominated group A with a clean slate after routing Danao FC, 12-3, in its final match yesterday.
The win allowed SRR to finish the eliminations with the perfect score of 15 points.
UC/Nigeria earned a semifinals entry by finishing second in Group B with a 4-1 (win-loss) record for 12 points.
In the Boys U18 semifinals, Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy will renew its rivalry against Springdale while Pocket Monster faces Ateneo de Cebu.
In the Boys U15, Cebu Dynamo succeeded in arranging a semifinals date against ERCO FC while the other semifinals match will see Los Amigos facing Canduman. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
