THE University of the Visayas-powered Team Cebu surged to their fourth straight win after crushing Pampanga, 61-49, in the national finals of the Coca Cola PBA Youngstars yesterday at the JCSGO Gym.
Cebu managed to keep their record clean, thanks to the superb efforts of Jun Manzo, who scored 23 points while Orlan Wamar and Joshua Flores helped the cause with 11 markers each.
The win allowed them to keep abreast of Laguna, the other undefeated team in this tournament which waylaid Kabaka Manila, 68-42, in their game yesterday.
Sam Abuhijleh topped Laguna with 19 points while Juan Moleta added 15. Both Laguna and Cebu tote identical 4-0 (win-loss) marks but all that will change today when the two squads meet for the solo lead in the standings.
Pampanga dropped to 2-2 while Kabaka fell to 1-3.
In other game, Cagayan de Oro notched its first win with a, 79-73 victory over San Juan City.
Glen Gallardo had 31 points to pace the Mindanao-representatives while RR Fabiana chipped in 16. CdO holds the same record as Kabaka while San Juan suffered their fourth loss in as many games. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
