Ex-Antipolo barangay leader killed

A former barangay chair who was a staunch supporter of outgoing Antipolo Mayor Nilo Leyble was killed on Tuesday night.

PO2 Dennis Reboldela said Rina Gabuna Juinio, 50, was watching television in her house in Sitio East Kamias, Barangay Sta. Cruz at 8 p.m. when a man barged inside and shot her in the face. The gunman then casually walked out of the house and escaped.

The victim was rushed to Antipolo District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, the police said.

While some witnesses were quick to attribute the victim’s death to politics, the police said they were considering all angles.

Supt. Manuel Placido, Antipolo police chief, said that they would investigate the incident first before making any conclusion.

Juinio is the former chair of Barangay Sta. Cruz. She ran and lost to Oscar Tamayao in 2010.
