34 hired on the spot in Mandaue job fair

SOME 34 applicants were hired on the spot during a job fair jointly organized by the Mandaue City government, Department of Labor and Employment, Jaycees International-Zugbuana and Benedicto College last Saturday.

Musoline Suliva, head of the city’s Public Employment Service Office said another 100 applicants were scheduled for final tests this week.

A total of 400 applicants registered for the job fair, the fourth in Mandaue City this year held at the gymnasium of Benedicto College, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City.

Suliva said he hoped that the series of job fairs in partnership with private groups and institutions will reduce the unemployment rate and promote industrial peace in the city.

Forty-three local companies, which included malls, call centers, factories, hotels and resorts, participated in the activity.

Lilian Benedicto, vice president for operations of Benedicto College, said the activity was an opportunity for their graduates  in housekeeping to seek job.

“I have applied in three companies to give me options,” said Irene Cantal, the 22-year old fresh graduate from Cebu Institute of Technology University.
