P1 hike in movie tickets in QC to go to Scouts
Moviegoers can soon expect a P1 increase in the price of film tickets although the additional amount will go to a good cause. Two ordinances were signed and approved last week requiring all movie houses in Quezon City to increase by P1 the cost of tickets from August to September.
The proceeds, however, for the whole month of August will be donated to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Quezon City council. On the other hand, the collection for September will benefit the Girl Scouts of the Philippines local council.
The donations, the ordinances explained, are aimed at strengthening scouting in the country through the continued assistance of the city. They pointed out that activities and services of the local boy scout and girl scout councils were “geared toward the promotion of the moral, spiritual and physical well-being of the youth, the development of sports and livelihood and in assisting the promotion of the environment and waste management program and community development of the city government.”
The scouting councils, the ordinances emphasized, have been involved in the promotion of character development, the provision of adequate citizenship and leadership training among the Filipino youth.—Bernadette Nicolas, trainee
