Four teams start Partner’s Cup quarterfinal bids today

08:55 AM May 18, 2013

Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
4 p.m. – San Marino vs. Raphael’s Sports Bar
5:30 p.m. – Cebu Landmasters vs. Lion Tiger

THE SAN MARINO Corned Tuna-Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildcats and the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors aim for the semifinal round as they take on separate opponents in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Enervon-Cesafi Partner’s Cup today at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Wildcats, who earned the third seed by virtue of their 94-79 win over the Warriors last Thursday in their tie-breaking playoff game, battle the Raphael’s Sports Bar-University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars. The Warriors, on the other hand, face off against the Lion Tiger-University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers.
Both the Wildcats and the Warriors will be armed with a twice-to-beat advantage by virtue of their higher seeds after the elimination round.
The Wildcats, though, remain wary of the Jaguars, who, in spite of winning just one game out of 10 in the previous round, remain dangerous as their lone win came in their last outing.
With their morale boosted, the Jaguars will contend with the likes of James Regalado and Kyle Lajato, the two protagonists in their 78-73 win over the Warriors.
Already waiting in the semifinal round are the undefeated Prime Asia-University of the Visayas Green Lancers and the second-seeded Gaisano Capital South-University of Cebu Webmasters.
The semifinals will be a single round-robin affair. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
