MANILA, Philippines – Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said they might make another proclamation of the remaining senatorial winners Friday night.
But Brillantes could not say whether it would be a partial or full proclamation.
“Meron siguro tinitignan pa naming ulit (There might be a proclamation, we will see). Four, five, or six,” Brillantes said.
Asked when the consolidation of the votes would be finished, he said: “If not today (Friday), maybe tomorrow (Saturday).”
The Comelec, sitting as National Board of Canvassers, proclaimed Thursday evening six winning senators whom Brillantes believe would not, by any chance, be dislodged from the Top 12 even as the counting continues.
Proclaimed were Grace Poe, Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano, Nancy Binay and Juan Edgardo Angara.
The winners, except Binay, attended the proclamation and received their certificates of proclamation from the canvassing board.
The proclamation certificates were given to the five in alphabetical order.
As of 11 a.m., the canvassing board received 100 certificates of canvass (COCs ) from various parts of the country.
Still on the top three are Poe with 12,986,253 votes, followed by Legarda with 11,896,817, and Escudero with 11,326,358.
