Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Lucenito Tagle told reporters that Binay, a member of the United Nationalist Alliance which filed a motion to suspend the proclamation due to doubts over the results of the elections, has opted not to come to the ceremony.

Binay, daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay, is the only candidate from UNA who landed in the top six senate slot.

UNA has asked the Comelec en banc sitting as National Board of Canvassers to postpone the proclamation but the motion was junked by the NBOC.
