Uncle cuffs nephew

Saying he was fed up with mischievous acts, a man handcuffed his nephew and tied him to a tricycle.

McArthur Tabasan was only freed when police arrived.

Matias Tabasan, 70, said he decided to tie down his nephew to prevent him from stealing their things.

Police chanced upon McArthur inside their house in Tormis Street in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City handcuffed and with a rope tied around his waist and the other tied to a tricycle.

Police later brought McArthur to the Fuente police precinct after he was accused of theft by his uncle.

“Napuno nako, segi lang og pangawat (I was fed up. He always steals things),” said Matias.

Matias accused McArthur of stealing his P1,000 cash.

“Among ipa priso, makagawas raman dayon, kuyawan sad mi nga kami maoy hilabtan (We tried to have him jailed but will be released eventually. We were afraid he might do something bad to us),” Matias said.

Matias said he brought McArthur to the Fuente police station last Tuesday but was later released since there was no evidence to pin him down.

Matias said when McArthur arrived home around 4 p.m. Tuesday he handcuffed him overnight.

Operatives of the Fuente police went to the house after learning about the incident.

McArthur’s live-in partner, Arnelia, denied the uncle’s accusation.
