The Fruitas Shakers and the Boracay Rum Waves tangle in an all-important game that may very well decide the playoff fates of several teams today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Fruitas, which sports a 7-3 (win-loss) record, already has a berth in the quarterfinals but will be aiming for an outright slot in the semifinals with a win today. A victory by Fruitas, which hold an advantage over Blackwater Sports (8-3) in case of a tie, will also earn Big Chill (6-5), EA Regen (6-5) and Cagayan Valley (6-5) a spot in the quarterfinals with the Elite and the Superchargers enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage.
A loss will relegate the Shakers at No. 4 but will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
In contrast, Boracay Rum (6-4) is hard-pressed to close out its elimination round campaign on a winning note to advance to the next round. Should the Waves wind up tied with the Shakers on 7-4 mark, Boracay Rum will earn third seeding ahead of Fruitas with both enjoying twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
A win by Boracay Rum will also enable Blackwater Sports (8-3) to gain outright passage in the Final Four while Big Chill and EA Regen will clinch the last two quarterfinal seats.
In the event Boracay Rum losses and wound tied with Big Chill (1.1577), EA Regen (1.0030), Cagayan Valley (.99122) and Cebuana Lhuillier (.9545), the Waves (.9818) will be eliminated due to inferior quotient. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
