Two robbery suspects arrested in Mandaue

TWO men from Mindanao were arrested after being tagged as suspects in the robbery of a bakeshop in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.

Lauro Chatto, 41, and Alvin Ceniza, 33, were arrested several hours after Julie’s Bakeshop was robbed.

Three Julie’s workers identified the two men as the suspects who robbed the bakeshop around 6 a.m. last Thursday.

Police said saleslady Sahlee Binuya, 23, was arranging bread when two men arrived and posed as customers.

Police said one of the two men poked a .38 revolver at Binuya, while the other man went inside the bakeshop and took P930 from the cash register.

A worker’s cell phone worth P1,500 was also taken by the robbers.

Fortunately, the workers managed to take down the plate number of the motorcycle that the robbers used as getaway vehicle.

Based on the records of the Land Transportation Office, the motorcycle with plate number 1819-GT was traced to the name of Jully Umbina.

Umbina is the aunt of Alfred Alpahura, a friend of Chatto and Ceniza.

Chatto and Ceniza were staying at the house of Alpahura in barangay Buaya.

Chatto was first arrested at the house of Alpahura.

Ceniza was arrested in a separate operation in Buaya where he and one Mario Casio were allegedly caught using shabu.

Police said Alpahura may have been involved in the robbery. An operation to arrest him is ongoing. REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
