Poll inspector shot in Basilan, another hurt in motorcycle accident in Cotabato
MANILA, Philippines — Poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Monday said they received a confirmed report of an election inspector shot in Basilan.
“We have received a confirmed report of a BEI shot in Basilan,” said Ana De Villa-Singson, PPCRV media director.
“We have no word whether he is severely injured. PPCRV coordinators are checking the report right now,” she added.
She also relayed reports of a BEI who was injured after being hit by a motorcycle in Cotabato.
The injured BEI refused treatment because she was “needed in the ballots”.
“These BEIs are heroic because even when theyr bloodied, they don’t want to be admitted in a hospital,” Singson-De Villa said in Filipino, quoting a report.

“They should be allowed to vote,” she said.
