Cabbie, passenger robbed in Mandaue

A 56-year-old taxi driver reported to the police that he and his female passenger were robbed at gunpoint in barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City yesterday dawn.

Jaime Basan, a resident of barangay Jomgao, Argao town and driver of a Ken Taxi, said he lost his earnings worth P1,000 in the robbery.

Basan told police that a woman flagged him down in I.T. Park in barangay Lahug past 3 a.m. and directed him to Cabancalan.

Basan said the passenger had just opened the door when they reached their destination in M. L. Quezon street when a man suddenly showed up and pointed a gun at her while declaring  a hold-up.

The woman initially refused to hand over her belongings that prompted the robber to fire his gun.

Basan told police that after divesting the woman’s belongings, the robber walked toward his side and demanded that he give him his money.

The robber fled on a motorcycle driven by another man.

Police are still investigating the case.
