DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Police arrested 120 people, eight of them minors, for violating the liquor ban, which took effect starting 12 a.m. Sunday, on the eve of the country’s midterm elections.
Senior Superintendent Ronald dela Rosa, city police chief, said his office, in coordination with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), would file appropriate cases against violators. He said the police would remain on alert for other violators as the liquor ban would last until May 13, Election Day.
