Guns seized from village chief

NAGA CITY—Police and Army soldiers seized firearms and ammunition from the residence of a village chief in a Masbate town on Friday.

Maj. Angelo Guzman, spokesperson of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division, said a search on the residence of Paulino Gepiga, village chief of Mabini in the town of Uson, yielded a cache of firearms.

Guzman said among the weapons seized were .45 cal. pistols, Ingram machine pistols, revolvers, shotguns and several rounds of ammunition. Gepiga was taken into custody.

Judge Maximino R. Ables of the Masbate Regional Trial Court Branch 47  issued a warrant for the search. Shiena M. Barrameda, Inquirer Southern Luzon
