Evasive action kills janitor in QC
Instead of saving his life, the evasive action a man took ended up killing him the other day on Payatas Road, Quezon City. Melanio Uson, a 42-year-old janitor, died after he jumped off a delivery truck when the driver announced that the vehicle had lost its brakes. The truck’s rear wheels, however, ran over the victim’s right leg and crushed it, an injury which resulted in his death. Traffic investigators said yesterday that negotiations were underway between the victim’s relatives and the truck owner and the results would determine if a criminal charge may end up being filed in court. TV reporter robbed in jeepney
Two men robbed on Wednesday morning a television reporter of around P7,000 worth of valuables, including electronic devices, near a church on Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. Posing as passengers of a Fairview-bound jeepney, the robbers divested of his belongings People’s Television Network (Channel 4) traffic reporter Benjamin Bondoc, 21, who was on his way to work before they alighted from the vehicle in front of Sto. Domingo Church. Quezon City Police District Galas station commander Supt. Norberto Babagay said the robbery happened at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the corner of Banawe and Quezon Avenues. 2-way traffic starts on Domestic Road
Starting Friday, there will be two-way traffic on Domestic Road in Pasay City, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced Thursday. Two lanes will be reserved for vehicles going to Roxas Boulevard while the other two lanes will be for vehicles going to Andrews Avenue. The move is aimed at decongesting roads in Pasay and Parañaque cities in preparation for the construction of the Edsa-Taft flyover, from the Heritage Hotel area to Malibay Bridge, in August.
