THE Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) will hold its annual Immersion Course (IC) that will bring participants from Manila to Cebu on board a domestic inter-island vessel.

Supply chain and logistics managers all over the country are invited to join the activity that will be held from May 17 to 19.

Practitioners from the Visayas and Mindanao who may want to attend the on-board discussions may join the trip from Manila to Cebu.

SCMAP is the new name of the Distribution Management Association of the Philippines (DMAP), a professional organization formed in 1990 by a group of companies operating in the Philippines with an original mission to achieve effective distribution of products and materials.

FEATURED STORIES

This year’s theme for the Immersion Course is “Supply Chain – Philippines, the Next Chapter.”

The “Next Chapter” could be in reference to the expanding outlook of SCMAP to regional (ASEAN) supply chain concerns and issues as well as to its move to expand membership outside of Metro Manila.

Cebu City can be the first and next SCMAP chapter.

Aside from trying to attract membership from among the Visayas-based SCM practitioners, a former president of DMAP from Cebu will discuss the prospects of organizing in Cebu a distribution hub that can serve its members.

This could also be an interesting topic for the SCM service providers such as the shipping and trucking operators, forwarders and manufacturers.

Topics include Global economic update and its Impact on ASEAN logistics by Ronilo Balbieran, Team Leader of REID Foundation; Sea-based logistics in the Philippines by Ike Castillo, president of Fast Logistics Corp.; Choosing the best storage solutions for your warehouse by Henry Batallones, country manager, SSI Schaefer; Cebu as a distribution hub by Bobby Cabaero, director for VisMin Operation – TMI; and Supply chain leadership by Ninoy Rollan, chief executive officer of Transfluent Management Inc.
