105 runners vie in 65k Ultramarathon tonight

A total of 105 ultra marathoners will join the third edition of the Coast-to-Coast 65k Ultramarathon starting at 12 midnight today at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.

Runners will travel from Cebu City to Toledo City, western Cebu via the Transcentral Highway in the hopes of finishing the marathon and gain bragging rights. No cash prizes will be given to finishers. Instead, medals and finishers shirts will be handed to finishers.

The race’s finish line is at the Toledo City Sports Complex. The cut-off time is 13 hours.

Race director Raffy Uytiepo said the race has attracted noted runners like defending champion Noel Tillor, Mindanao’s Sherwin Managuil, Rhoda Oporto and Robert Daang. Managuil and Tillor will compete in the relay category.

The relay category is composed of two runners who will each run 32.5 kilometers.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
