THE REIGNING champions University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters left the University of San Carlos (USC) a parting gift before leaving for China to represent the country and compete in the Universiade Games.
However, it was not the pleasant kind as they handed the Warriors a 77-67 loss in the seniors division of the 11th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament late Tuesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The victory was the Webmasters’ second in a row and it put them at the top of the standings with a clean 2-0 (win-loss) record.
At the helm of the charge was 6-foot-10 center Junemar Fajardo, who scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half, including 12 in the third canto, where the Webmasters assumed control of the lead.
For the second straight match, Fajardo got plenty of support from his teammates with Jan Auditor chipping in 14 and Luigi Bercede and Gerald Ampoon adding 11 each.
