Senior Superintendent Marlou Chan, Pangasinan police director, said unidentified persons lobbed the grenade at Orduña’s house on Bugayong Street in Bugallon at 1:35 a.m. It exploded near the door of an office he maintains in his house.
The mayor was reportedly attending a political meeting in another village at the time of the blast and only some family members were inside the house.
Orduña, who is on his last term as mayor, is running for vice mayor under the Liberal Party.
In December, Orduña filed a plunder case against his former political ally, Governor Amado Espino Jr., who, he alleged, had amassed up to P900 million in “jueteng” payoffs.
