Birthday celebrator nabbed for killing neighbor

MANILA, Philippines–A man who was celebrating his 19th birthday was arrested for allegedly stabbing dead his neighbor after an argument in Malate, Manila early Monday morning.

Senior Police Officer 1 Charles John Duran of the Manila Police District homicide section said Jesus Lomayno Jr. was drinking with his friends on Camachile Street at 12:10 a.m. when the victim accidentally bumped into him.

Michael Raymundo, 34, of 2460 also of Camachile Street, immediately said he was sorry but Lomayno refused to accept the apology.

The suspect left the group then returned with an ice pick and suddenly stabbed Raymundo.

The victim was able to run but the suspect went after him.

Raymundo died at St. Clare’s Medical Center in Makati City at 1:34 a.m.

Police said Lomayno was surrendered by his parents and is now detained at the MPD homicide section. A murder case will be filed against him.
