PUBLIC information officers of 11 towns in Negros Oriental gathered in Dumaguete City for an advocacy planning workshop.

The activity was organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) to promote the community-driven development (CDD) approach of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Integrated and Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) project in their respective municipalities.

The planning workshop identified issues and bottlenecks in communicating social welfare interventions in their respective communities as well as address communication problems in the field to maximize delivery of services.

“Communication is a key component for any development intervention initiative to succeed. Thus, the role of the information officers of municipalities where Kalahi-CIDSS is implemented is crucial in promoting anti-poverty program to its constituents,” said DSWD Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat.

With the planning workshop, the information officers will soon be included in the municipal inter-agency committee to ensure effective promotion of the Kalahi-CIDSS project and other social welfare interventions.
