2 villages in Basilan rocked by explosions
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—Two barangays (villages) in Lamitan City in Basilan province were rocked by simultaneous explosions on Thursday night.
Lamitan City mayor Roderick Furigay said the first explosion happened at around 9:30 p.m. near the house of Vice Mayor Arleigh Eisma in the city proper.
Moments later, another blast happened in front of a chapel in the village of Colonia, some three kilometers away from the city center.
Furigay said no one was reported hurt in the blasts. He said police were investigating the blasts.
