HAGEDORN COURTS CEBUANO POLS

Independent senatorial candidate Edward Hagedorn meet with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Rep. Tomas Osmeña in his Cebu campaign sortie.

The Puerto Princesa City mayor acknowledged that Cebuano voters are very important because it has one of biggest voting population in the country.

He paid Rama a courtesy call in City last Tuesday morning.

He also meet Rama’s rival, south district Representative Osmeña last Monday evening.

Hagedorn has been the mayor of Puerto Princesa City for almost 20 years.

When asked why he should be voted by the Cebuanos, he said “Well if you are also a lover of nature and you want to protect the natural resources of the country, and you agree in our advocacy that real progress cannot be possible without the preservation of the environment, then I dont see any reason why you wont vote for me.”

From his talks with mayors in Cebu, Hagedorn said he has gotten encouraging responses.

He also claimed that he is the only independent senatorial candidate endorsed by the League of Municipal Mayors and the League of City Mayors./Correspondent Santino S. Bunachita

COMELEC WARNS VS SOLICITATIONS

The Comelec warned candidates who are giving prices like trophies for competition winners like basketball tournaments which is common during summertime.

Provincial Comelec officer Ferdinand Gujilde said that donating awards is prohibited acts during election period.

“Anything of value given by candidate to anyone is a prohibited donation because that is vote buying in the guise of donation,” he said./Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
