MAN KILLED IN LAPU

A 20-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by a still-unidentified man in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.

Elmar Gonzaga was found by his father sprawled on the ground with a gunshot wound in the head around 8 p.m. Monday.

The father told police that he was inside their house when he heard bursts of gunfire.

The father said he rushed outside to check and saw his son slumped on the ground.

The father also saw a man wearing a dark shirt and a ball cap fleeing.

The victim was sitting on a bench when he was attacked, police said.

STOLEN CAR RECOVERED

A CAR that was stolen in Mandaue City a few days ago was recovered in Cebu City yesterday.

A Toyota Corolla sedan was found abandoned in Sepulveda Street in barangay Zapatera, Cebu City.

The car is owned by Anecito Buscas, 51.

Buscas told police that his car was stolen while it was parked outside his house in sitio Tundan, barangay Basak, Mandaue.

Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, chief of the Basak police station, said the car was carnapped allegedly by Dexter Seno.

Abot said Buscas and his alleged cohort Jhengo Porcia were also accused of carnapping in 2005.

CABBIE ROBBED IN LAPU

A TAXI driver was robbed at knife-point by two men who posed as passengers in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

Albert Bayotlang, driver of Angel GM Taxi with plate number GXC-240, said he lost his earnings worth P800 in Monday dawn’s robbery.

Bayotlang, a resident of sitio Sun-ok barangay Ibabao, Cordova town, told police that two men flagged him down in barangay Babag.

The passengers directed the driver to Gun-ob.

Bayotlang said they were traveling along Timpolok Road when the two men poked knives at him and declared a hold-up.

After divesting the driver’s earnings, the robbers asked Bayotlang to unlock the doors.

The driver said he told the robbers that the locks of the doors malfunctioned.
