FOLLOWING the death of a detainee, a retraining of police personnel on how to handle criminal suspects will be done at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Chief Supt. Ager Ontog, PRO-7 chief, said the re-training will be done today in the wake of the mauling of a robbery suspect inside the Fuente police precinct.

Those who would attend are mainly from the Fuente police, said Insp. Rogelio Ruiz, chief of the Police Community Relations.

The training will consist of proper handling of detainee upon arrest, detention and filing of charges.

In the province, the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) received an additional 29 police officers for deployment in towns and component cities.

Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., CPPO chief, said they will maximize the use of these additional police officers despite their numbers falling short of the ideal one police officer is to 1,677 residents ratio.

About 204 new police personnel were allocated to the PRO-7, which designated them to various city, provincial and municipal police offices in Central Visayas.

Of this number, Bohol received 62 police officers while Negros receives 43 police personnel. About 38 personnel were assigned in Mandaue City, with 36 in Cebu City and 16 in Lapu-Lapu City./Correspondents Chito Aragon and Gabriel C. Bonjoc
