PANGASINAN, Philippines — The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) took its campaign to vote-rich Pangasinan, hoping to woo its 1.6 million registered voters for the midterm elections in May.

Opposition candidates are expected to make the most of their two days in the province which is dominated by the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), kicking off with mini rallies and caravans through several municipalities on Wednesday.

Present during the mini rally at the Villasis Public Plaza were senatorial candidates Zambales Representative Mitos Magsaysay, Cagayan Representative Jack Enrile, former Tarlac Governor Tingting Cojuangco, former senator Ernesto Maceda, Nancy Binay, San Juan Rep JV Ejercito Estrada and Senator Gregorio Honasan.

Missing were former senator Richard Gordon and resigned senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri although organizers expect the former to catch up with the rest of the candidates within the day.

From Villasis the group will wend its way through Urdaneta City and are expected to hold a rally at the Calasiao Public Plaza by nightfall.

UNA is being supported by incumbent Governor Amado Espino Jr. of the National People’s Coalition (NPC) who is battling for reelection against Alaminos Mayor Hernani Braganza of the Liberal Party (LP).
