A woman lost around P20,000 in cash and valuables to robbers who suddenly boarded the taxi she was riding Monday night in Quezon City.

Karen Rose Robles, 20, of Malolos, Bulacan province, told the police that the taxi driver appeared to be an accomplice since he drove her around the cities of Makati and Manila while the robbery was in progress.

PO3 Wilnor Agudo of the Quezon City Police District said the victim boarded the cab near the corner of Edsa and North Avenue at around 6 p.m.

Robles, a marketing officer, asked the driver of the taxi (FWW 988) to take her to West Avenue. But upon reaching the Seaoil gas station near GMA 7 and Edsa, two men suddenly forced their way into the cab and declared a holdup.

The robbers first took the woman’s iPod Nano and a flash drive.

The cab driver then drove around Makati and Manila, then headed back to the Quezon City’s Balintawak area, where one of the men demanded the victim’s automated teller machine card and withdrew P20,000 from an ATM.

Robles was dropped off on Congressional Avenue in Barangay Bahay Toro by the robbers, who escaped in the same taxi. Julie Aurelio
