Police arrested 11 persons in a series of drug buy-bust operations in Lapu-Lapu City.
Five persons were arrested when operatives of Lapu-Lapu’s City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) swooped down on alleged shabu “tiangge” (market) in barangay Babag 2 on Friday night.
Police first arrested Dandy Bisnar after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth P200 to a poseur-buyer.
Police also arrested Herwin Ando, who allegedly accepted the buy-bust money from Bisnar.
Police said they recovered from Bisnar’s possession six sachets of suspected shabu, two tinfoils, a lighter and a .357 revolver with one bullet.
CAIDSOTG operatives then proceeded to a suspected shabu tiangge a few meters away where Constantino Baguio, Jacris Molero and Vergilio Lubas, all residents of barangay Babag 2, were caught with shabu paraphernalia.
Police said suspected packs of shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia were found displayed on top of a table.
A third buy-bust operation past 2 a.m. last Saturday led to the arrest of Venancio Silawan, 42, Rosalio Eyas, 40, and Roger Pacilan in sitio Ibabao, barangay Mactan.
Police said Silawan was caught possessing six packs of suspected shabu, while Eyas yielded five packs believed to contain shabu and a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three bullets.
Police said it was Eyas who sold a pack of shabu to a police asset then gave the marked money to Pacilan.
About four hours later, three more persons were arrested for allegedly selling drugs in the town proper.
Police said Jundy De la Peña and Gibson Igoy, connived with each other in selling shabu worth P200 to poseur-buyer at 6:30 a.m. Their companion, Lucia Salvi, 46, was arrested after nine sachets of suspected shabu and rug-sniffing paraphernalia were found in her possession.
The arrested persons were detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCCPO) pending the filing of charges against them, police said.
Senior Insp. Rogelio Pineda Jr., who led the arresting team, they had been conducting surveillance against the arrested persons before the operations were made.
