Man nabbed for stealing rice from Mandaue church

A 23-YEAR-OLD man allegedly burgled a church in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Police said Ramil Telen, a native of Zamboanga del Norte, was caught by the caretaker of Rise and Church of Jesus Christ Ministry in the act of stealing two sacks of rice from the church around 4 a.m. yesterday.

Each sack weighed five kilos.

Police said Telen, who lived in a boarding house in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue, entered the church by detaching the window’s jalousie blades.

Police said Telen was caught by caretaker Lony Olivar, 24, carrying sacks of rice while he was about to go out of the church.

Olivar accosted Telen and turned him over to barangay tanods.

At the Opao police precinct, Telen admitted that he was involved in previous theft cases, police said.

Police aid Telen admitted burgling two houses in barangay Casuntingan and took four cellphones.

Telen likewise admitted stealing his boardmate’s motorcycle last April 4 and brought it to Cordova town.

Police was able to recover the motorcycle owned by Joko Alimpolo.
