ALREADY assured of a top seeding and a twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs, the league-leading Alaska Aces remained relentless as the nailed a come-from-behind 93-92 win over the listless Globalport Batang Pier last night in the 38th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces ended their impressive eliminationd round campaign on a four-game winning streak as they will enter the quarterfinal round with a league-best 11-3 (win-loss) record.

Alaska’s 11 wins this conference already matched the team’s total victories last season, where the Aces went 11-24.

Globalport bowed out with their 10th straight loss in what has been a disappointing campaign. The team ended the tournament with a woeful 2-12 (win-loss) record.

Globalport had the chance to exit on a decent note when it took a 72-57 lead in the third period.

The Aces battled back and torched Globalport with a searing 32-5 attack to take a sizable 89-77 lead in the final 3:27.

Globalport came with its own fightback as Gary David scored 11 in a 15-4 run that pulled Batang Pier to within 92-93.

Globalport had a chance to win the game when Alaska turned the ball over with 19.4 ticks left.Alaska, however, came up with a big defensive stop when import Robert Dozier blocked a driving David.
