A security guard shot and wounded a truck helper after they argued in a container yard in Cebu City.
Jonathan Cawaling Sanchez, security guard of Global Protection Security Agency detailed at at the container yard of a shipping company in Pier 4, surrendered to the police after the incident.
The victim, Marcelino Maneja Jr., sustained gunshot wounds in the neck and chest. He was confined at the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital.
The shooting happened past 9 p.m. Thursday.
Police said Maneja tried to enter the container yard but was accosted by the security guard for not wearing a hard hat in violation of a company policy.
Police said Maneja returned a few minutes later with a hard hat on.
Sanchez told police he confronted the truck helper when he heard him telling him “dili ko mahadlok og pusil (I am not afraid of gun).”
At the height of the argument, Sanchez drew a gun and shot Maneja, SPO2 Vic Ayuman of the Cebu City Police Office said.
Sanchez surrendered to operatives of the Motorcycle Riding Units (MRU) who responded to the shooting.
The security guard surrendered a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three bullets.
