IT was a disappointing finish all over again for the University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors as they dropped their second game in a row after they were beaten by the Arellano University Lady Chiefs in a pulse-pounding five-setter, 19-29, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, 8-15, in the Shakey’s V-League yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The loss put the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) women’s volleyball champions in a tough bind at 0-2 (win-loss) after they also lost their first game to Adamson.
Early on, it appeared as if Arellano would cruise to the easy win as it won its first two sets before the Lady Warriors awoke from their slumber to tie it at two sets apiece behind the efforts of Chona Gesulga and Suzzette Panis.
However, the Lady Chiefs pounced on the Lady Warriors’ two service errors and a long hit midway in the fifth and took six of the next eight points to break out of a tight 6-4 contest en route to victory in a duel of newcomers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
